Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

General:

 

You must provide your medical examiner with the following information:

    Date onset of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA).

    Name and location of treating health care professional.

    What interventions have been done, surgical repair?

    Medications you are taking.

    Treatment plan / frequency of testing

    Last dose of Anticagulant (If taking)

    Last INR: if on Warfarin (Coumadin)

    Use of Oxygen

    Side effects of medication. 

    Report:

Any history of abdominal pain, back pain, pulsatile abdominal mass, shortness of breath, swelling of ankles, dizziness or fatigue.

 

Certification following AAA Diagnosis

1. Aneurysm ≤4cm - requires vascular clearance.

2. Aneurysm <5cm - requires vascular clearance and Annual Ultrasound. 

3. Aneurysm >5cm – Disqualify

 

Must tolerate medicine without side effects.

 

CERTIFY FOR:  Maximum of 1 year

 

Certification following AAA Repair

1. 3 month waiting period.

2. Vascular clearance.

 

Must tolerate medicine without side effects.

 

CERTIFY FOR:  Maximum of 1 year

 

AAA Rupture Rate:

   ≤4cm – Rare

   <5cm 1-3% / yr

   5-6cm 5-10% / yr

   >7cm 20% / yr
